About Me
My name is Melissa Barnes and this is my second year at Bethesda Elementary. Last year was a blast and I am looking forward to another great year. Before coming to Bethesda, I taught music at J.C. Magill Elementary in Loganville for seven years and I also taught for eleven years in Fulton County Schools. I earned my undergraduate degree in Music Education from Georgia State University in 1988. In 2010, I completed my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at Lesley University. I live in Lawrenceville with my family and my two dogs. My daughter, Meredith, is 22 years old and just graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. My son, Mitchell, is 13 years old and is in 8th grade. We have husky/shepherd mix named Zira and a terrier/pug mix named Nala. When we are not in school, we love to camp with our friends and we like to spend time at the beach on Tybee Island near Savannah, GA..
